關於紅磚

現代紅磚是以黏土，頁岩，煤矸石等為原料，經粉碎，混合捏練後以人工或機械壓製成型，乾燥後在900攝氏左右的溫度下以氧化焰燒製而成的燒結型建築磚塊。    可追逤至西元前7,500年於熱帶地區如土耳其南部以及埃及地區發現由黏土成形、日曬乾燥而成的磚塊遺跡，後於西元前3,500年左右開始由寒冷地區國家如古羅馬等國發展以火燒製而成的磚塊。    無數的磚塊們經過高壓高溫的洗禮，共同承載著世界各地人類發展的歷史與文化，在某些地區禮俗同時具有趨吉辟邪的含意，時至今日在工程技術的進步當下，磚塊已漸漸遠離我們的生活周遭，我們希望藉由發展此一系列的好磚好賺商品，讓磚塊文化持續在社群中流傳。

Modern red bricks are made of clay, shale, coal gangue, etc. as raw materials. Thru crushing, mixing and kneading, then pressed and formed by men or machines. After drying, and then to be put into kiln with 900 degrees Celsius fire for hours to be done.        It can be traced back to 7,500 BC in warm regions such as southern Turkey and northern Egypt. The ruins with bricks formed from clay and dried in the sun were found. Later around 3,500 BC, people live in cold regions such as ancient Rome and other countries began to develop Fired bricks.        Countless bricks have been baptized by high pressure & temperature, and together they carry the history and culture of human development all over the world. Yet now a days they are fading away from our life surroundings, we hope that by developing this series of Fortune Bricks, we hope that the brick culture will continue to spread in the community.

草屯好磚

草屯因位處大肚溪支流烏溪及貓羅溪兩河流之間，烏溪與貓羅溪長期夾帶上游沖刷而來之黏土堆積於此，而形成一層一層深厚之黏土層（白植土）。白植土因含有矽酸鋁，以及其他礦物質。由於草屯盛產製造磚瓦之原料－白植土，而原料之搬運成本高，故磚瓦業乃選擇此地設廠，就地取材，以節省成本。    嘉南窯業原設於嘉義，1955年間，省政府疏遷中興新村，需要大量的磚塊興建辦公廳舍，中央政府指示當時全台最大的磚窯廠「嘉南窯業公司」到草屯設廠，全力生產磚材，供應興建中興新村所需磚材，加速中興新村建設。    惟位於富頂路原址的八卦窯廠區，已於2012年售出改建為製造水上用品的AGIT艾鉅公司。

Tsaotun Township, located in between Wu River and Maoluo River, accumulates soil along millennium. Therefore it contains aluminum silicate and other minerals makes it good clay material for producing bricks and tiles. It was a wise choice to set plants nearby to reduce shipping costs.    Chia-Nan Kiln Company was located in Chiayi County, to be the biggest brick manufacturer in Taiwan by that time. Was assigned by the government around 1955 to establish a new factory in Tsaotun Township, to provide building materials while the Province Administration to move into the Chung Shin New Village.    Yet the kiln located in Fu-Ding Road was sold during 2012 and now it is a water sport equipment brand named AGIT.
